Move Along

It took me an hour to get dressed yesterday morning, and this is all I could come up with. Sorry, it has been a really long week. I promise my next outfit will not be a Gap striped top with a skirt. I am a ball of emotions: excited, stressed, disappointed, frustrated, overwhelmed, and grateful. Here's why: I got two new kids in my class; I have three papers due next week; finals the week after that; I'm turning 21 tomorrow; I'm going to Vegas with Robert in two weeks; the preschool is changing locations and I have a bajillion ideas for the new place; my Marais Maryjane bow flats came but they're too small so I'm exchanging them; and...I got a heater for my room.

I think I'm getting the end-of-the-year/birthday blues. I begin each year with a list of resolutions determined to finally accomplish all of them, and maybe achieve world peace along the way. This determination wanes each day, and finally each year ends in disappointment. I don't think 2010 has been any different. Looking back on my resolutions, I accomplished 2.5 out of 5: I took more photos, landed a gig as a wedding photographer, and graduated college a year early (but didn't apply to art school, hence the 0.5). I didn't lose weight; I think I gained a lot more actually. I think I also ended up spending more money on clothes rather than less. At the same time, I went to New York twice and fulfilled a dream of attending NYFW fashion shows; I'm alive, in love, and loved; and I got a job within months of graduation in the field I want. I guess we can't get everything we want. It's kind of crazy how things have changed so much within this one year. I almost forgot I wanted to pursue photography earlier this year, and look at me now, a teacher at a preschool. This end of the year reflection is about a month premature, but I guess I now have an extra month to make 2011 my year.

How was your year?

Until next post,
Jasmine

  2. I love the red and the blue, a typical nautical jasmine outfit. Also loving the backdrop.

  3. I get that way too, and the older I get the worse it seems that life is just passing by and I have so much more I want to do in life and the clock just keeps a-ticking. Oh well. You did accomplish a lot this year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I know it's tomorrow but I wanted to say it now:-)

  4. Haha don't worry Jasmine, it's the end of the semester and the year! We're all pretty stressed out right now :P But YAY you're turning 21! That's super awesome! I hope you and Robert have a fantastic time in Vegas, I LOVE LOVE LOVE VEGAS! Haha six more months for me :) And I agree with you, I don't think I fulfilled half of my resolutions, but sometimes along the way we accomplish things that weren't originally on our goal list :)

  5. My year...stressful, enlightening, life-changing.
Don't stress too much about things. You'll only lose time. (I'm learning!)

  6. I haven't really given much thought to my 2010 as a whole -- I'm Procrastinator Extraordinaire like that. I DO know there have been countless ups and downs, and one thing is for sure -- I am looking forward to more of them.

I'll never get tired of your outfits Jasmine. (:

  7. I honestly kind of forgot 2010 is ending... I'm so tunnel-visioned in my finals mindset! I think it's great that you graduated early, and you have every reason to be super proud of yourself :) Sounds like you have lots of fun plans in your future, too :D

  8. I feel like this year flew by so quickly. It's like a blinked once and all of a sudden it's December! I had a great year though. And even though you feel like you haven't accomplished a lot, I think you did! You graduated college a whole year earlier than expected, that's awesome in itself! And you got a job right after.. Hello, awesome-er!! :D And really, who cares about losing/gaining weight, you are beautiful no matter what!! As for spending the cash on clothing.. why not?! It's okay to indulge once in a while. :)

I hope you had a fabulous 21st birthday Jasmine!! Ahhh I remember my 21st... good times indeed. Happy Monday!

    xx Love & Aloha

  9. Happy Belated Birthday, Jasmine! :)
21 huh? That's a big milestone! I see you as a very successful young woman with a great blog, great job, fine education, and awesome bf. You achieved a lot this year, so don't be so hard on yourself :)

I don't mind the repeated GAP striped top (seriously!) In fact, my previous look was inspired by your fondness of stripes :D I'm still drooling over that red skirt. Button-down and pockets? I WANT!! :D

I hope you are having/have had a wonderful time celebrating it and by the way, everytime I see your in your topshop shoes, my eyes mist over a little because I think of our weekend in NY and how I can't wait to see you again one day!

    love,
