top - madewell / skirt and belt - uo / belt - cotton on

Hello!
I got this top at the end of June when I was still on my $100 Summer budget. I love that the stripes on the front and the ones on the back are different colors--that was enough reason for me to add yet another striped 3/4 sleeved tee to my closet. I just know it's going to be so good for Fall. I was actually going to take it with me to NYFW this week, but somehow I think I have too many options for NYFW (which means I've been doing too much shopping lately) and just decided to give in and finally debut this top.

Random Sunday morning reflection: I think I'm in a life-rut. Sometimes I think I get too complacent and comfortable too easily. I settle too easily and I stick to what I know. I'm okay with mediocrity because I'm afraid of change and to fail/to achieve success. I've stopped feeling the good effects of my weight loss because it's been quite a while since I've actually lost any. Eventually change loses its newness and just blends in with who you are now. My body just doesn't feel 'new' anymore even though it is 25-lbs lighter than when I started. Right now, I feel like I'm back where I started: uncomfortable with the skin I'm in. Maybe it's the anxiety of fashion week and looking like a whale compared to thin bloggers that is sparking these dark thoughts, but that doesn't mean I should settle for a job half-well-done. It's time to get a move on and not lose sight of the goal I set for myself back in February.

Until next post,
Jasmine

  1. I like the two-toned stripes you have going on in your top! Aww don't feel bad, we all go throw similar ruts, but I'm sure with NYFW coming up things'll change! It's easy to lose motivation once the feeling of change and renewal wears off, but just try to keep adding small new goals and working towards them! Don't lose sight Jasmine, you've come so far already!

  2. You look great! :)I love your stripes and you have such a brilliant collection of cute skirts

Sorry to hear you'r feeling uncomfortable in your skin right now. I remember when I lost a lot of weight one year there was a few month long plateau where I only barely held my weight and I became very frustrated. In retrospect I think it was a good thing giving my body a breather before further dieting. In any case you look great so no need to rush things ;)

  3. Hey lady, I'm sorry that you're having body anxiety. That's the part of fashion that I despise--the part that makes you doubt yourself and makes you feel like you'll never be tall/thin/beautiful/well-dressed enough and it's total fucking bullshit! You are a gorgeous creature and a total individual and I hope you'll feel it in New York <3 I can relate to the feeling of being a rut--I felt this surge of productivity these past few weeks and then all of a sudden, I just started to feel like my 'old' self and was disappointed and bored with everything. But chin up, and know that I'm rooting for you! <3 <3

    love,
    Jenny

  4. You are so beautiful Jasmine!!! I'm sorry you're feeling low on yourself. But I think you're wonderful and pretty inside and out. Whoever said skinny meant pretty? It doesn't.

  5. I love the stripes! You're whole look is adorable!

I'm going through the same thing you are, but probably not as much. I'm also losing weight and I've started to stop losing as much as well. You have to keep your chin up and try to change it up. I join everyone in saying you're gorgeous, your style is amazeballs, we love all your posts. Skinny doesn't look any better than you, remember that :)

I hope you feel better, and enjoy your NYFW, you deserve it! :D

And get out of that rut! You look amazing and you're gonna turn heads at Fashion Week! Stay on track and you'll be feeling comfortable again in no time. I can't wait to see you in two days! <3
