Remember to Breathe

Photobucket

Hello!
Thank you to everyone who gave me tips quick, easy, and healthy snacks and meals! I just went grocery shopping and am stocked up on snacks like trail mix, apples, rice cakes, and ritz crackers. I also bought a bag of salad and some Lean Cuisine frozen pizzas for those days when I am really running late. I tried to wake up early this morning but ended up sleeping in until noon, but thankfully my mom cooked last night so I just popped the leftovers into the microwave, stuffed my face, and rushed out the door. My insides are already starting to feel better.

I'm starting to get really discouraged at my new job. I mean there are moments when they have showed how much they've changed that make me feel so satisfied; but those moments are so rare that I don't know if they're really worth all this stress and frustration. At the same time, I don't want to give up on them or myself. It's all I can think about lately, even on my time off. I think I'm going to ask for some time off from my other job so I can relax and come up with a game plan as to how to better handle these kids, and to finally decorate my classroom!

The sky today was so gorgeous through out the day. It made this heat wave (and life) a little more bearable. My retail therapy is starting to bring me a little stress too. Nothing in the stores really appeal to me, but it sucks because I want new things (this sounds horrible...). I need to find more dresses to wear to work. Yesterday, I almost spent $60 on striped t-shirts from Gap's website since they're having a good sale. I'm going to Gap tomorrow to see if I can avoid paying shipping. I did walk away with a new bow belt tonight though, so I can't wait to debut that! I'm giving myself the rest of this week to get the shopping out of my system. After, I am going to focus on school and work.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far! It's almost Friday!

Until next post,
Jasmine

  1. Cute striped top! Aww I'm sorry your job is stressing you out! Perhaps like you said, you need to take some time to think out a strategy. Are the kids like super rowdy or something? Just remember why you wanted to do it in the first place, and perhaps it'll motivate you to work harder and not give up! I know you can do it Jasmine! Haha yay shopping :)

  2. First off all, your comment made me smile. You are just as sweet girl!

And I think you said you teach pre-k? I taught last year and I remember how much of a handful the kids are, especially in the beginning. I always found the best way to keep them under control and still have fun (and to keep you sane) was art and music. They absolutely loved to draw/paint you name it. And music games were so fun for them and it taught them how to be good sports. Email me if you ever wanna talk about that stuff!!

  4. Sounds like you just need more hours in the day, don't you wish that was possible? I definitely do! I really like this outfit though, red, blue and white is one of my favourite colour combos so you're winning me over on all fronts here. Great bow in your hair too, you look great Jasmine.

  5. damn, i typed out this comment and i'm pretty sure it disappeared. my internet is kind of lousy (and so is blogger sometimes). but i love this outfit where you paired that striped top with the chambray skirt. i also can't wait to see you debut your new bow belt!!

as for your job, i'm sorry to hear that it's still frustrating you but just remember that those rare, rewarding moments are worth it all. whether or not you can see it or feel it, you really are making a difference in their lives. it's the small steps that add together to make one giant step (is that corny? probably). but you get my drift. :) don't give in; you're a great teacher and i know you'll do great things. <3

And like everyone else I'm sorry about your job, I think a lot of people feel like you so know you're not alone. I think you do just need some r&r. Take it easy in the next few days and you'll come back fresh as ever!

I would say, concerning work, do what is best for you. Don't worry about letting anyone down or anything. The important thing is to put yourself and your health and your happiness first :)

  15. Wow, this is one of my favorite looks from you! It's the perfect combination of the outfit, the backdrop, and the lighting! It just feels very relaxing :)

About the job, it's very easy to feel frustrated with our jobs. I feel frustrated all the time! I feel that I can do more, but I can't really do more here. I love the coworkers but I don't like the job. I feel restricted! But anyways, I'm just grateful that I still have a job that pays the bills and my mortgage (and my shoe shopping!)

ps. a girl can never have enough striped tops ;)
