This is what I wore to my first graduate school interview on Tuesday. I surprised myself by choosing to wear pants to the interview, especially because I feel dressier in a dress or a skirt. But time was running out. These trousers were more comfortable than all the pencil skirts I had tried on combined. They feel a lot like leggings, and they were on sale. Finding pants like these make me want to find more like it and wear them more often on the blog. I rather liked the outfit I ended up with though, and by switching out my heels for loafers and untucking my shirt, it made for a cute casual outfit to go shopping in after my interview. I'm so glad I stuck to wearing something that made me feel comfortable and showed a bit of my relaxed personality. I'm pretty sure if I had gone in with a full pants suit, I would've been fidgeting and not as confident as I was in this outfit. I was pretty scared I was going to fall flat on my face in heels though since I wear flats 99.99% of the time. It looks like I broke two fashion faux pas in this outfit: black and brown, and black and navy. To be honest, I didn't even know about these faux pas until I started blogging. I think they're a bit silly really. If I find myself admiring outfits that mix odd patterns like florals and plaid, then I see no reason why black cannot be with navy or brown.

You look so smart Jasmine! They would be foolish not to have you, hope you get the result that you want from the interview cause you truly deserve it! x
ReplyDeleteUm, you look PERFECT! I'm so happy you went with pants! You look so grown up, put together, and mature! I love this look on you. And I kind of adore that oxford shirt. I need one, I think ;) So happy you went well! Also... that bag. Drooling. loveee you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou're wearing pants and I can't even express how much I love you in them! They're the perfect fit and length - I better see them on the blog more often! This is a great interview outfit though. It's professional and it still shows your personality at the same time. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd personally, I'm all for black and brown and navy and black. Bring it on faux pas! Love and miss you!
What a great interview outfit. You look lovely, and, as a current graduate student, I wish you all the best in your academic future! Get ready for the craziness that is grad school. There's nothing quite like it.

Love this outfit. I wore something similar to my first grad school interview. I'm pretty sure I wore the same pants actually :) What program are you interviewing for?

Isn't it refreshing to wear something other than your normal stylings? I love wearing comfortable jeans with baggy sweaters this winter than my usual tights and dresses :) & this outfit is perfect for an interview. Very casual and comfortable!
ReplyDeleteHope you did excellent on yo' interview!
