Over My Head

Photobucket

Hello!
As a part time preschool teacher, part time movie theater concessionist, and full-time student/girlfriend/sister, I honestly don't know how I'm blogging so steadily at the moment. But a la my blog name, this is definitely my temporary escape from the insanity that is my life right now. I'm currently working 6-7 days a week, going to class twice a week, and trying to squeeze in an hour or two with Robert when I can. It's been really hard on me since I'm not used to being so constantly busy, but at the same time it's nice to be occupied (and richer) because I hate being restless and bored. I think I'm a little too occupied though...

I think in order to keep my blog up and running, it looks like I'll have to do more of these dumpster/back alley photo shoots. We took these right before dinner on Thursday. Robert and I only see each other for a few hours in the morning and meals. With the light fleeting when I get off work, I decided that the dumpster would be our photo location of the day and called it "urban." Robert laughed, but started taking photos anyway. A perk is that no one was there to judge us, but I was afraid an employee was going to take out the trash and find me posing. How awkward would that be? I'm really dreading the time change when the sun begins setting at 5pm.

I've had this dress for a while now, like since March. I don't really know why it took me so long to wear it, but I like it (duh, it's striped!). It might be the colors--navy and red, which are my Fall colors. Every time I went to wear it during the summer, I thought it was a bit too...dark for sweet, carefree days. Now that it's Fall though, I see no reason not to wear it! It also works great as a skirt so I can't wait to try that out. My current mindset about outfits is to remix, remix, and remix! A few days ago, I realized yet again just how much clothes I really do have. But with working 6-7 days a week now, I don't think I'll have to worry about shopping too much anymore. I am on the hunt for a maroon cardigan for the season though.

This is my new "Shifty" Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and my new cardigan/jacket. I'm not really sure what to call it, but whatever it is, I love it. It's so soft and comfortable, and it was on sale at Gap! It's definitely a bit more professional looking than all my cardigans. I have been finding the best things at Gap lately; I think I've made that transition from F21 to more "adult" stores like Gap and J. Crew. While my clothes are now more expensive, it's good to know that they are of better quality and will last longer. I feel like my style won't change too much for a long while, if ever, so it's best to invest in quality pieces. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be passing along this Madewell pin to my future daughter. I love my new bag. It's smaller than my recent bag purchases; but it's simple, and I know I can use it when I'm older. When it comes to handbags, especially designer ones, I want to get designs that are simpler and classic rather than trendy. The cross-body strap just suits my lifestyle so well right now. I don't think this bag photographs well, but just know that I'm enjoying it and my mom is enjoying her cream version.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Until next post,
Jasmine

  1. That dress works perfectly for the transition to fall and the jacket/cardigan (coatigan?) looks great with it. It is a satisfying feeling investing in quality, I think the deliberation can be just as fun as using it too. I love thinking about what to save up for that I can use into the future, maybe thats just me! Either way, you look great!

  3. You look wonderful in this outfit!! Loving the bag too! Oh and what are we all going to do when the daylight finally starts to go away? I've been racking my brain with trying to figure it out, because my camera is not for indoor photos. I'm thinking about planning my outfits for the week on Sunday and basically take all my photos on Sunday afternoon for the entire week...hahaha...is that cheating?

  10. I actually LOVE your urban backdrop. :) You look lovely in your dress Jasmine and those shoes are super cute too. I like your "shifty" MJ bag. hee hee. I'm planning on getting my first Marc Jacobs bag, but I'm still debating on getting a new LV... but I guess it's sorta like the same thing right? Well, no not really. ha ha.

Well, I hope you're enjoying the rest of your weekend. Oh and I wanted to tell you that your Vlog with Jen is freakin' adooooooorable. Are you sure you guys haven't been friends forever? It just seems so natural between the two of you. I love it!

    xx Love & Aloha

  11. This look is amazing! YAY for finally being able to get a look at your MJ bag :) I LOVE it. I can't wait until I get my own MJ bag too.... probably not going to happen for awhile.

I know what you mean with the awkward though, no worries, I mean I'm generally caught posing on my balcony, so all the people driving by get to see my awkward-ness with my little tripod and me running back and forth. What a joke ;)!

PS- Good luck with the psychotic lifestyle! I feel your pain, except lucky for me I have weekends off. Keep the sane thoughts going <3!

  17. Oh my gosh. How chic are you?? This is just wonderful Jasmine. I love that you look your usual cute self but somehow a little more...sophisticated? I dunno, maybe it's the colors. Ahh I just love everything about this!

    PS
Don't worry about taking photos by the dumpster. Trust me, I've done worse. Haha. (:

  22. That dress is so cute on you! I love how you matched it with the bow. I, too, get shy about not having really picturesque places to take my photos but... I think that it's better to update with some "less scenic" locations than not at all. : )

I hope you're still having fun, despite how busy it is!

  23. The bow is super cute. I visited F21 last week and I didn't like anything! I don't know whether to be happy or sad about that.
