Anywhere But Here

If only one of these sailboats on my skirt were real and I could sail around the world (though it probably wouldn't be as easy to wear). Over the weekend, my mom and I had a nice talk about how proud she is of me and my brother (who got into all the schools he applied to for transferring!). We also talked about how next year this time, I'll be half way through my Master's program. Now that I know where I'm headed in the Fall and for the next two years, I want more than anything to travel. It's kind of scary--but exciting at the same time--to think that in the Fall, I will begin graduate school and hopefully once I graduate, I will have a full time job, and will have to settle down and be a real grown-up. It'll be the beginning of the rest of my life. Despite all this anticipation and wanderlust, I know I can't go too far this Summer since I have to work and save money. I find myself constantly day dreaming of days that just may never happen: walking around the streets of New York again with Jen, and enjoying a bowl of clam chowder in San Francisco. I also find myself day dreaming of days in the further future: finally have my own place and my own classroom. I think I'm getting a little antsy thinking that this summer may be my last hoorah, but I just have to keep reminding myself that while I may not have the opportunity to travel as much later on, other types of adventures await me.

Until next post,
