Hello!
So I know I said I'd try to get out of my current summer uniform of shorts and a striped tee, but I just can't. It doesn't make it any easier having parts of my closet in my brother's room and the some parts in boxes in the living room while my bedroom is being painted and getting new flooring put in right now. Just bear with me for a little while longer, at least until I'm not room-less anymore.

I've realized that I have stopped wearing bows in my hair. I already look really young so I don't want to make myself appear even younger. I look like I'm 12 in these photos. It's weird being in this transition from young adult to adult. I'm turning 22 in December and I don't really know where to shop anymore. I'm too old for places like F21, but too young (and too poor) to shop at places like J. Crew. While cleaning out my closet, I realized that the majority of clothes I was giving away were things from F21. I have just recently sworn off from F21. Why shop there when I was able to get these shorts for $5 from Gap?

Until next post,
Jasmine

  1. Aw you look so cute Jazzy, you don't look 12 at all! If you look 12, I look... 8? Hahah :) I think the key to shopping at places that are targeted to adults is to buy pieces that you can mix with more youthful pieces. I don't know, I think it works for me? Also, I've sworn off F21 as well!

  2. Asian jeans are the best..... you will age AMAZINGLY! :) hee hee.

And you're never too young for J.Crew. I would love to buy so many things from J.Crew, but yes I'd have to agree their stuff is pricy.. but they also have amazing sales. They recently had a websale for additional 40% off sale + free ship. Free ship to Hawaii is always an A+ in my book! :)

    Hope you've been well, Jasmine.

    xx Love & Aloha
p.s. I rec'd the dress from Shabby Apple, but it's too big for me. :( I need to take it in a lot..... hopefully I can tackle that soon.

  3. I've recently sworn off Forever21, too! I just feel too weird wearing their clothes anymore... like you said, it's just an awkward collection of clothes that look too young. I miss sophistication in a wardrobe! Which I must say, you look in your tee and shorts!

  4. I personally don't believe that anyone should have to force themselves to change their style over time. I say just let it come and don't be so conscious of it. Just wear what makes you happy, not what you THINK you should be wearing just based on your age. Also, in't 22 part of their F21's target age range anyway?

Love all your outfits regardless. Peace. :]

  5. pretty pretty, may the stripes and shorts continue! you look pretty, I wouldn't say 12 though :) even if f21 doesnt seem to match your maturity wear what you love regardless of whether your age conscious tells you otherwise.

  6. i just hit my 25th birthday, and this wife/mommy STILL shops at forever 21 when i get the chance! ;) i used to worry a lot about where i bought my clothes, and felt that the labels on my clothes carried a lot of importance. i'm a lot more relaxed now. i'll shop just about anywhere, but i make sure that the pieces i choose are in accordance with my budget, and things that i will want to wear over and over again. my best advice for dressing in your mid twenties is to stay away from a lot of the short lived "fad" styles and look for more classic pieces that you'll want to wear for years to come, and of course stay true to what you love and what inspires you! :)

  7. Yay, happiness and you look great!

As for Forever21. I don't think it's about age, I think it's about style and taste. Mine changes every five years; that's why I don't splurge unless I know I'll wear it forever.

  8. I love that you're wearing shorts so often because you're adorable in them. Plus that sunflower clip is a nice transition from your bows! :)

My mom is telling me my closet needs to grow up too, haha. It's helping that I'm working in the city now and have all these big shot, gorgeous, model-like women to compete with. I'm trying to stray away from Forever 21 too! But I think summer is an excuse to dress a little younger. :)

  9. Look at you all tan! :D your summer uniform is awesome Jasmine - it's so great to see you in shorts!

    Gosh, you're turning 22 and you're saying you're too old for F21? I'm 25 and I still go there. Lol. Well, I think as long as you like the clothes or the shop's aesthetic, then you are free to shop wherever you want. And looking younger than you actually are is better than looking older, right? (;

  10. This simple outfit is really great for summer. You gotta love a simple striped t-shirt! I definitely don't think you're too old for forever 21. You just have to sift through all the crap to get to the good pieces. I always like to compare it to a thrift store in that sense.
